PROVIDENCE -- Brown quarterback Kyle Newhall-Caballero suffered a broken wrist late in the Governor's Cup game at the University of Rhode Island last week and is finished for the season. The senior fell on his right wrist after being hit while throwing a pass with just under two minutes to play in the fourth quarter. The pass was intercepted.

Senior Joe Springer relieved Newhall-Caballero in the overtime period. URI won, 27-24.

Springer started the season-opener against Stony Brook and led Brown to a 33-30 overtime victory while Newhall-Caballero took an extra week to recover from a broken bone in his throwing hand. Springer and Newhall-Caballlero shared the quarterback duties in the Harvard game, a 29-14 Brown victory. Newhall-Caballero started the URI game and played until he was hurt.

Newhall-Caballero was first-team All-Ivy in 2009, his first year as a starter.

Brown is at Holy Cross on Saturday.
