A report by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports has multiple sources claiming that "there's a sentiment that maybe [Kevin Garnett's] hyperextended right knee would be best suited to sit out longer." Wojnarowski writes that coach Doc Rivers and general manager Danny Ainge must reach clarity on that issue, as well as the question of whether the team will keep Ray Allen beyond the Feb. 18 trade deadline.
Wojnarowski writes that the Celtics have initiated trade talks involving Allen and continues to search for a younger, less expensive guard. Allen, according to the report, is resigned to the fact that he will not be a Celtic after his contract expires at the end of this season.
Meanwhile, Yahoo! Sports reported last night that there is a chance of Paul Pierce returning to action tonight against Miami, and that the team thinks it is likely that Pierce plays Sunday against Orlando. That would be a welcome development, considering the rumors that were swirling around Pierce's foot injury.
