Mike Noonan, Brown University's highly successful soccer coach for the last 15 years, has resigned to become head coach at Clemson University in South Carolina. Brown is undertaking a national search for his replacement.
Noonan compiled a 160-77-31 record at Brown and took his team to 10 NCAA Tournaments. His teams won eight Ivy League titles and were undefeated in the league in 2000 and 2007. He coached five Ivy players of the year, two rookies of the year, 36 first-team All-Ivy players and four Academic All-Americas.
Brown was 11-3-5 last fall and received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bears defeated Stony Brook at home and lost at No. 5 North Carolina.
Noonan's prior head coaching positions were at New Hampshire and Wheaton. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Bates in 1983.
