Rhode Island is in a tie for second place, behind only Pennsylvania, through two days in the United States Golf Association's men's State Team Championship at the CC of St. Albans in St Louis. Rhode Island's 3-under total of 281 gives the Ocean State a tie with Illinois in the 50-team competition. Pennsylvania, with a team of Mike Van Sickle, Sean Knapp and Nathan Smith, leads at 277. Massachusetts, with a team of John Hadges, Brian Higgins and Frank Vana, is tied for seventh at 284. The final round will be played Friday.
