It has been a long time coming, but, according to the Boston Herald which cited unnamed sources, the Celtics will finally announce the signing of Indiana free agent Marquis Daniels today.
The 6-foot-6 swingman is expected to sign for the bi-annual exception, the report says, at $1.99 million and can be no more than two years.
Daniels agreed to join the Celtics several weeks ago and since then the Celtics have been trying to work out a sign-and-trade deal to free up roster space and sign Daniels to a longer contract.
But that no longer appears likely to happen, so Daniels agreed to sign with the Celtics for the bi-annual exception, according to the report.
Daniels averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds for the Pacers last year. He is expected to play a big role with Boston's second unit and spell Paul Pierce and Ray Allen when needed so that they won't wear down by playing too many minutes.
