LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Louisville has hired an assistant high school basketball coach with ties to a top recruit as a special assistant to coach Rick Pitino. Shabaka Lands, an assistant basketball coach at Pike High in Indianapolis, has joined the Cardinals for the 2009-10 academic year. Lands coached point guard Marquis Teague at Pike. Teague is considered to be one of the top players in the Class of 2011. Louisville spokesman Kenny Klein said the job is an entry-level position and helps the Cardinals fill out their staff after two staff members left the program to take other jobs. Teague is considering Louisville among several other schools. Teague's father, Shawn, played for Pitino at Boston University. |
