Jimmy Baron, the decorated former University of Rhode Island guard, is one of six recipients of the ECAC Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award, the ECAC announced Tuesday. The award recognizes "outstanding academic and athletic achievements of student-athletes representing ECAC schools in Divisions I, II, and III . . . based on extraordinary achievements in academics, athletics, and community service." Baron is fifth on URI's career scoring list with 1,768 points. His 361 three-point field goal are a URI record. Off the court Baron was a second-team Academic All-America, three times an Atlantic 10 All-Academic and a dean's list student. Baron is playing professional basketball in Turkey this season.
