WALTHAM -- Kevin Garnett said that his surgically-repaired right knee which he injured during a game against the Utah Jazz in February is almost fully healed.
"It's almost 100 percent," Garnett said.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers said that Garnett has no medical restrictions. He has been cleared to practice with the team but Rivers said that he will keep a close eye on him when the Celtics open up training camp tomorrow in Newport because Garnett likes to go full speed all of the time without consideration of his health.
"Kevin likes to do it all and go 1,000 miles an hour, and that's a good quality," said Rivers. "We want everybody in all our jobs to do that. And for me, it will all be in what I see. If I think he's handling it well, then it's not a big deal. If I don't think he's handling it well, then I'm going to ask him to slow down some."
Garnett said that his rehab went ahead of schedule an the only surprise was how big the bone spur was.
"I think everything was pretty much straightforward with the procedures," said Garnett. "They took me through what was going to occur, post and prior to, and everything's been just like that. Everything's been right on schedule."
Celtics captain Paul Pierce said that Garnett looked great when several players got together for a pickup game last week.
