Eric Jespersen's Gallant is the champion in the Classic Division for Six Metre boats built before 1965. Designed by Arvid Laurin, Gallant was built in 1947. Jespersen acquired Gallant five years ago as a wreck and restored it for the world championships.

In the Modern Division for boats launched after 1965 Sophie II of Sweden earned the world championship in a tiebreaker with Scoundrel of Great Britain. They tied with 17 points and an equal number of first-place finishes. Sophie II won on its second-place finishes.

Sophie II was a derelict that Hugo Stenbeck bought to sail in the 2009 championships. It was built in 1994. Scoundrel, owned by Rob Gray, was launched in 1988.

Bob Cadranell's Arunga, built in 1981, finished third. Cadranell is from Seattle.
