Junior Chris Paul-Etienne, the University of Rhode Island's starting quarterback, will return to practice Thursday or Friday and will be ready to play at the University of Massachusetts on Sept. 19.

Paul-Etienne strained ligaments in his left, non-throwing elbow in URI's season-opener against Fordham last Saturday and left the game in the third quarter. He had passed for 164 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown by that point. URI won, 41-28.

Head coach Joe Trainer said Thursday that his quarterback has worn a brace since the injury but will be ready to practice by Friday and to play at UMass next week.

Paul-Etienne transferred from Rutgers last January and made his first start since high school against Fordham.
