Jamison Randall has moved within one match of bringing the Button Hole Short Course and Teaching Center its third state champion. Randall, who lives in Cumberland but learned how to play golf at Button Hole, the short course on the Providence-Johnston line, won two matches Thursday at Metacomet to advance to the title match of the 88th R.I. Golf Association Junior Championship. He will meet Brendan Lemp, who goes to school in Connecticut but who spends his summer at The Misquamicut Club, in Friday's title match. Lemp bet Jared Adams, one of the stars of Barrington's state championship team, in the quarterfinals, and then came back after lunch and nipped Andrew Fiorenzano, a Wheeler School star, 1 up. Randall, the tournament medalist, ousted defending champion John McCarthy, 2 and 1, in the quarters, and then Tyler Cooke of Potowomut, 4 and 3, in the semis. He would join Juliet Vongphoumy and Samantha Morrell as champions from Button Hole if he wins Friday. Quarterfinals Jamison Randall, Cumberland, def. John McCarthy, Potowomut, 2 and 1; Tyler Cooke, Potowomut def. Nicholas Leandro, W. Warwick, 3 and 1; Brendan Lemp, The Misquamicut Club, def.
