Conditions look like they should be better today for the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championship play in Newport, which are scheduled to resume this morning at 11. The forecast is for mostly cloudy but dry conditions, with highs in the mid- to upper 60s, through about 3 o'clock. At that point, the weather could become a factor again -- there are expected to be scattered thunderstorms in the area from midafternoon to early evening. Very little tennis could be played yesterday because of rain, and Tuesday ticketholders will be granted admission to Wednesday's play. Tonight's Red Sox-A's game does not look like it will be threatened by thunderstorms that are expected to be in the Boston area in the afternoon, but gone by gametime. It will be unseasonably chilly for July, with game temperatures in the low 60s. |
