Free-agent forward Rasheed Wallace reportedly has agreed to a two-year contract with the Boston Celtics. Wallace, who played for the Detroit Pistons last season, will sign with Boston on Wednesday, the first day NBA free agents are allowed to sign, for the midlevel exception, which is expected to be $5.6 million to $5.8 million, according to Boston.com. Orlando and San Antonio also were believed to be in the running for Wallace, who won a championship with the Pistons in 2004. Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, owner Wyc Grousbeck, coach Doc Rivers, and president Danny Ainge traveled to Detroit last week to try to convince Wallace to come to Boston. The 6'11'', 230-pound forward turns 35 in September. He averaged 12 points and 7.4 rebounds a game for Detroit last season. Selected by Washington in the first-round out of North Carolina in 1995, Wallace was paid $13.9 million last season. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

I guess that Perk won't lead the C's in T's anymore, now that this bonehead is on board. Hopefully Doc & Garnett can keep him under control or he could be cancer on this team.

The addition of Rahseed Wallace is a great, if not risky move. Forget the technical fouls, the more important issue is his age and health. Every NBA team--as you saw last year-- is one injury away from disappointment.....Celtics, Washington Wizards to name the poster boys from last year. If you liked James Posey, you should really like Rasheed Wallace who is better in every respect including 3-point shooting. With Shaq in Cleveland, the young front line in Chicago, and the return of Elton Brand in Philly, the C's needed to beef up the front court........and did so with a quality player who has versatility, multiple skills, and is a winner...........If you know your history, you will recall all the malcontents that have thrived in Boston because of the tradition and philosophy such as DJ, Scott Wedman, Marbury---who should be resigned, to name a few......This move is huge and give Danny credit for this one.
