BOSTON -- The Red Sox have contacted Toronto about acquiring ace pitcher Roy Halladay.

Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi received a phone call from the Red Sox, and has also heard from the Yankees and Rays. Toronto is looking for top-notch prospects and is in the process of heavily scouting organizations farm systems.

Halladay will waive his no-trade clause and has given Ricciardi a list of teams he would agree to be traded to, including the Red Sox and Yankees.

The Blue Jays' asking price from the Sox is thought to include Clay Buchholz and at least two other high-profile talents.

Toronto is scouting all minor-league levels of the Red Sox and Yankee organizations at this point.
