The sun is shining today here in Newport, but yesterday's rain is continuing to cause problems at the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships. With portions of the grass courts heavily saturated, play has been delayed on the Stadium court, as well as on Court 2.
Tournament organizers expect to resume the match between Ricardo Mello and Samuel Groth on Court 2 at 2 p.m. Before play was suspended on Tuesday, Groth had won the first set of that match, 7-5, and Mello was up, 3-0, in the second match.
The grounds crew has been trying to dry out the Stadium court with walk-behind blowers, and organizers hope to resume play on that court at 2:30 p.m.
