NEWPORT -- The sun is shining, the grass is dry, and players are serving and volleying on four courts at the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships at the Newport Casino.

After three days of weather-related delays, second-round matches got underway at 10:30 Friday morning. Three Americans have won already and will play quarterfinal matches later today. Jesse Levine defeated fourth-seeded Philipp Petzschner of Germany, 7-6 (3), 6-2, lucky loser Rajeev Ram beat Samuel Groth of Australia, 6-4, 6-2, and seventh-seeded Kevin Kim rallied and defeated German Daniel Brands, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Kim had not won a match in four previous visits to Newport..

Prakash Amritraj of the U.S. and India and Sam Querrey of the U.S. are in the third set. Querrey, the No. 3 seed, just broke ahead for a 3-2 lead.

Robby Ginepri, the 2003 Hall of Fame champion, is down a set and a break.

Second-round and quarterfinal matches are on the card for Friday. Second--seeded Fabrice Santoro, the two-time defending champion, and Taylor Dent, the 2002 Hall of Fame champion, will follow Querrey and Amritraj on the Stadium Court.
