PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The Maine Red Claws basketball team says Austin Ainge will be the team's head coach for the upcoming season.

The 27-year-old Ainge was most recently a scout for the Boston Celtics and is the son of Danny Ainge, general manager of the Celtics.

The Red Claws, Portland's new NBA Development League team, will be affiliated with the Celtics and the Charlotte Bobcats. Ainge's hiring was announced Tuesday by Red Claws president and general manager Jon Jennings and chairman Bill Ryan Jr.

Before joining the Celtics, Ainge was an assistant coach for Southern Utah University. He played at Brigham Young University.
