"As a result of the Yankees' three games in the Metrodome last week, Minnesota will receive about $280,000 in state income tax," noted Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "The Yankees' payroll this season is $201 million, and players are taxed in states in which they play. "Alex Rodriguez ... will pay nearly $42,000 in Minnesota income tax for the three days he was in town." It's not just Minnesota. Many states tax athlete's and entertainer's salaries when they work in the state.
You should see the W-2 these guys get! Lots of extra pages with the various state wages and withholding.
