FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Taylor Twellman became the fifth player in MLS history with 100 goals, scoring a pair in the second half to lead the New England Revolution to a 4-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. It was just the second match of the season for Twellman, who had been sidelined with a neck injury. He came on as a reserve to start the second half and didn't take long to reach the milestone, scoring his first goal of the year in the 57th minute with a header off a cross from Sharlie Joseph to give New England a 3-0 lead. Seven minutes later, Twellman produced the 16th multigoal game of his career with a shot under Red Bulls goalkeeper Jon Conway off Steve Ralston's league-record 131st assist. |
