Red Sox pitcher John Smoltz has said on this morning's Dan Patrick radio show that he is hoping to make Boston his debut next Tuesday or Wednesday, when the Red Sox visit the Washington Nationals. Of course, who wouldn't want to debut against that team? Asked by Patrick about the burning question of what the Red Sox will do to make room in the rotation for Smoltz, the future Hall of Famer said: "When I go to the rotation, [Jon] Lester and [Josh] Beckett go to the bullpen." Funny guy. If Smoltz's comments about joining Boston next week prove to be true, it means he is likely to get one more start for the PawSox at McCoy Stadium, possibly Thursday night. |
