Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting today that the Celtics were turned down by the Detroit Pistons in their offer of a blockbuster deal that would have sent Boston guards Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo in exchange for Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey. According to the report, the offer was made by a lower-level Celtics executive, and the discussions never reached the level of general managers Danny Ainge and Joe Dumars. Both Allen and Rondo have been rumored as players the Celtics are interested in shopping, Allen because of his age and large contract and Rondo supposedly because of personal concerns that have never been publicly raised by the team. |
