John Rainone and Brian Owens are the champions of this year's pro-assistant tournament, sponsored by Acushnet and the New England PGA.

The North Kingstown duo combined to shoot 67-65, for a 10-under 132 on the Brad Faxon-designed Bay Club course in Mattapoisett, Mass. First prize was worth $3,600.

Among other finishers, Troy Pare and Eric McBane of Wannamoisett were fourth at 134, Barry Westall and Jim Salinetti of Newport tied for fifth at 135 and David Marcotte and Jeffrey Martin of Point Judith tied for 12th at 138.
