NEW YORK (AP) -- The weapons possession case against former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been adjourned until September. Burress made a very brief appearance in court on Monday. The judge adjourned the case until Sept. 23. The 31-year-old, 6-foot-5-inch Burress shot himself in the thigh with an unlicensed gun on Nov. 29 while in a Manhattan nightclub. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and faces up to 3 1/2 years in prison. Burress has pleaded not guilty and is free on $100,000 bail. Burress caught the game-winning touchdown for the Giants the 2008 Super Bowl XLII. The team released him on April 3. |
