Point Judith's Bill McDonald had five birdies, including one on the final hole, to shoot 71 and earn medalist honors in qualifying for the R.I. Amateur Tuesday at Cranston Country Club. Scores were good in the cloudy weather, to the point where it took a 76 to advance to the Amateur next month at Crestwood. Tyler Fay of RICC, Jim Colucci of Wannamoisett and Joe Ducharme of Warwick tied for second with 72s. Others advancing were 73 _ Oliver Bennett, Joseph DeSimone; 74 _ Larry Devoe, Ronald Varone, Wayne Daniel, Jared Adams, Jeff Kern, Jamie Hahn, Charlie Hayes, Peter Taylor, Jason Kalin; 75 _ Tobey Lombardi, Ray Lajoie, Steven Merzullo;, 76 _ Alex Jestings, Joe Miozza, Mark Mazur, Chris O'Neill, Rick Audette, Dennis Meldonian, Mike Hamilton. |
