Amazingly, the first round of the CVS Classic is going on as scheduled. Rain has been a constant since the first players began, although it has been light, almost misty, much of the time. A bigger problem is the wind, which has been blowing strongly all day. Added to the already wet conditions from the miserable spring and it has created far more difficult conditions than seen in any of the previous 10 editions of the event. Birdies, rather than being the norm, have become scarce. Brad Adamonis and Brittany Lincicome are 3-under through 10. That gives them a tie for the lead with the team of Zach Johnson and Nick Watney, who are 3-under through six. The conditions are so hard that two teams have yet to make a bird, Nick Price and David Toms through nine and Peter Jacobsen and Natalie Gulbis in eight holes. Toms and Price are 1-over because of a bogey on three. |
