Rehabbing Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang pitched six shutout innings Tuesday night in his first start at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Wang had the successful night despite a big scare in the fourth inning, when he took a line drive off the shin from Charlotte batter Josh Kroeger.

According to Arthur Staple of Newsday, Wang threw 82 pitches and reached 93 miles an hour on the radar gun. He allowed three hits over the six innings, striking out six and walking three.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said before the game that he didn't anticipate the Yankees recalling Wang after just one outing at Triple-A. After the game, he was noncommittal: "[We'll take it] day by day. We'll see how he feels tomorrow. I was happy with what I saw here. I'll talk to Chien rather than announce anything right now."

Wang was placed on the disabled list after a disastrous start in the big leagues. In three starts with New York, he is 0-3 with a 34.50 E.R.A.
