The NBA playoffs could be helping Lamar Odom change his image.

The former URI star is playing through pain, providing a different view for those who have said the multitalented forward is not tough enough, not dedicated enough, to fulfill his potential.

Odom took a bad fall in the fourth game of the series with the Rockets, getting knocked down on a drive to the basket. Those in the Los Angeles locker room after that game spoke about how Odom had trouble putting on his clothes because he was in so much pain. He was doubtful for Tuesday's game. Here, courtesy of the Los Angeles Times, is what Odom went through to play Tuesday.

He got treatment for two days.

He slept in a chair for two days.

He took a shot in his backside so he could play.

He wore a heat pad and brace on his back during the game.

Still, he was in pain.

"I couldn't really picture myself not playing in a Game 5," Odom told the Times.

Odom expects to play in game six Thursday night.
