If you were watching and waiting for last night's Red Sox-Yankees game to begin, you may have noticed that information about the plans for the game was a bit sparse. While the word at the park was that the Yankees wanted to get the game in, there wasn't any indication of when the action might start, if at all.

When it finally did start, just after 9:20 a.m., there was a scene of great confusion at the Stadium, as hundreds of fans who left thinking that the game was trying to be postponed were barred from reentering the park. Some of the fans told the New York Daily News that stadium employees had told them that the game had been called.

A team spokesman told the newspaper that the Yankees have a strict no-reentry policy, but personnel manning one gate did not follow that policy for a time, letting a few lucky fans back into the stadium before reversing course.

There was at least one arrest, that of a 25-year-old White Plains woman who allegedly kicked a police officer when she was not allowed back into the stadium.

Tom Stuart, a 27-year-old fan who waited out most of the rain delay with his girlfriend before leaving and then trying unsuccessfully to get back into the stadium, told the Daily News: "We talked to the security personnel, who said there was zero chance they were going to play the game. We spent three hours drinking beer -- you can't drink much because they're 10 bucks apiece -- now they're going to play a game in front of 35 fans."

Which, if you were watching the game after midnight last night, wasn't too far from the truth.
