By KEVIN McNAMARA PROVIDENCE - For the longest time, all Keno Davis found himself doing over the past few weeks was writing letters. "I found myself writing while I was talking on the phone and I'd make a mistake and have to start all over," the PC coach said Tuesday. Davis recently completed writing letters to EVERY PC season ticket holder. That's about 3,000 or so letters. The coach said the letter-writing campaign was his idea and he hand-signed a small note to every one of them. "I just thought for season ticket holders and our alumni, it would mean something to receive a thank you from the coach," said Davis. "We hopefully will do that more times than not to reach out to our fans more often." There will more on the letters - and more PC hoop news - later this week. One free pub for the Friars. The athletics department is hosting its annual Cox Sports Friar Golf Classic on Monday, June 1 at Warwick Country Club. All money goes to the Friar Forever Athletic Fund. Fans will get a chance to meet and play golf with several PC staff members, including Davis, ice hockey coach Tim Army and women's basketball coach Phil Seymore. The entry fee is $500 per person and $2,000 per foursome. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, beverages during the round, prizes and gifts, a dinner reception and an awards ceremony. Call 865-1880 for more details.
