May 2-3, 2009

Providence, RI: Close to 5,000 runners will converge in Providence to compete in the second annual Cox Providence Rhode Races this Sunday, May 3, 2009. Runners - ranging in age from 8-76 years-old - are coming from as far away as Germany, Australia, Scotland and the United Kingdom to compete in this unique event that features the Cox Sports Marathon, Willow Tree Half Marathon and a 5k race.

Cox Providence Rhode Races

Cox Sports Marathon & Willow Tree Half-Marathon
Start Time: 8 a.m.
Starting line: Exchange Terrace (adjacent to Kennedy Plaza, Downtown, Providence, R.I.).

5k
Start Time: 11 a.m.
Starting line: Washington Street between Burnside Park & Bus Depot (adjacent to Kennedy Plaza, Downtown, Providence, R.I.).

Note: The winners of each race should cross the finish line on Exchange Street (adjacent to Kennedy Plaza) at the approximate times:

· Willow Tree Half-Marathon: approximately 9:00 a.m.

· Cox Sports Marathon: approximately 10:20 a.m.

· 5k: approximately 11:15 a.m.

Cox Communications is the Title sponsor of the Cox Providence Rhode Races. Johnson & Wales is the presenting sponsor. Charitable partners include Cox Charities New England, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training, National Kidney Foundation and Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.
