That's hard to say, but, certainly, Rachel Alexandra, who romped to victory this afternoon in the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs, ranks right up there with the likes of Ruffian, Personal Ensign, Zenyatta, Shuvee, and Lady's Secret.

There's not a 3-year-old in the land who's remotely close to her this year, and the colts that will be running in the Kentucky Derby should be relieved that Rachel Alexandra's connections didn't decide to take them on.

She's not only undefeated in her four races this year, but also untested. Veteran jockey Calvin Borel never had to ask Rachel Alexandra for anything extra as she pulled away to an overpowering, 20-length victory in the Oaks, a $500,000 race which is the distaff equivalent of the Derby.

Borel never even shook the reins as Rachel Alexandra, with her long stride, simply ran away from the field, covering the final furlong (one-eighth of a mile) in 12 seconds -- a remarkable time, considering she was running 1-1/8 miles and wasn't being asked to extend herself.

While the Derby promises to be more exciting, with a much closer finish expected, it's all but impossible to imagine the winner will look as impressive as Rachel Alexandra did in taking the Oaks.
