A special, "Golf Plus" issue of Sports Illustrated previewing The Players Championship this week in Ponte Vedra -- the so-called "fifth major" -- includes the magazine's Eighth Annual PGA Tour Players Survey. Among the interesting, and amusing, array of questions on which 72 players -- including Tiger Woods -- were polled, was this one: Who is the best player without a PGA Tour victory? Nearly one-fourth of the players -- 24 percent, to be exact -- named Brett Quigley. Once again, though, he didn't win. The leader in the category was, Tim Clark, with 33 percent. When it comes to winning a tournament, Quigley seems snakebit. Twice already this year he's come in second -- at the Puerto Rico Open and the Transitions Championship, at Innisbrook. Helped by those fine outings, he's won $927,356 this year and is 34th on the money list. |
