PROVIDENCE -- Captain Jeremy Reich's goal midway through the third period lifted the Providence Bruins to a 2-1 victory over the Portland Pirates Friday night and evened their Atlantic Division semifinal playoff series at one game apiece.

Game Three is Sunday afternoon in Portland.

Vladimir Sobotka opened the scoring at 2:01 of the second period, assisted by Brad Marchand and Johnny Boychuk. The goal broke a scoreless streak of seven periods for the P-Bruins.

Tyler Bouck evened the score for Portland with a short-handed goal at 3:33 of the third period.

Reich notched his game-winner at 10:32 of the third, assisted by Wacey Rabbitt and Adam McQuaid.

Tuukka Rask made 25 saves for Providence. Jhonas Enroth had 36 saves for Portland.

This is the second straight year and fourth in the last six that these teams have faced each other in the first round of the playoffs. Last April, the Providence opened with two straight wins, only to see Portland come back to win the next four.

The teams finished the regular season this year only six points apart in the standings. The P-Bruins had 94 to the Pirates' 88.
