Speaking right now on WEEI radio, Celtics coach Doc Rivers is saying that after seeing Kevin Garnett run this morning, the Celtics' center won't play Saturday against the Bulls in the opening playoff game. He may not play for the rest of the playoffs.

"He's not going to be ready. There's no way," said Rivers. "He just can't run."

Rivers said he watched Garnett ride the stationary bike and run the floor a bit and came away convinced the all-star big man won't be helping his team anytime soon.

"I just don't see it. After today, there's no way he can play," he said. "That doesn't mean he can't get treatment and keep working but I don't see it."

Rivers made a point of saying that the team doesn't want Garnett back for one game. The team wants him for the bulk of the playoffs. "If he can't get through biking and running without swelling or his leg locking, he can't get through the playoffs," he said.

Shut him down. Get him his surgery and take it as far as you can without him. All you can accomplish at this point is to worsen his injury and shorten his career. It's a shame but we need to face reality.
