Celtics forward Kevin Garnett will wait to have surgery until every possible means of getting him onto the floor for the playoffs has been exhausted, coach Doc Rivers says.

"He's not going to do it right now," Rivers said, referring to right knee surgery, according to The Boston Herald. "He was looking and searching for it and then he just decided to wait."

"All I'm saying is that we're still looking at this the same way we did last week," Rivers continued. "But if he can come back, then we'd obviously take that. I still don't think he can, but why would you ever want to take away that possibility?"

Garnett is expected to travel to Chicago with the team on Wednesday, but his status for this playoff series has not changed, according to Rivers.
