The New York Yankees say the cyst in Alex Rodriguez's hip is caused by a torn labrum in A-Rod's posterior labrum, and that he may not need surgery, contrary to a report earlier today by ESPN Deportes. The ESPN Deportes report quoted A-Rod's brother, Joe, as saying that Rodriguez would have surgery next week and miss 10 weeks of action. For now, the Yankees are saying that Rodriguez will be out indefinitely while he tries to rest and recuperate without surgery. If, however, surgery is needed, he could be out for four months. |
