FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Tim Wakefield pitched five scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, and struck out three in leading the Pawtucket Red Sox to a 9-4 victory over the Rochester Red Wings in an exhibition game yesterday. Wakefield's battery-mate George Kottaras went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Homeruns for Pawtucket came off the bats of designated hitter Mark Wagner and first baseman Aaron Bates -- each two-run shots. Shortstop Argenis Diaz had three hits and an RBI. Bubba Bell, who had three hits Wednesday, had two more hits in the win. The Red Wings scored their four runs in the top of the eighth inning off of reliever Richie Lentz, who gave up four hits and walked three in 1.2 innings.
