The Rhode Island Rams will travel Thursday night to State College, Pa., for the second-round of the NIT to face the Penn State Nittany Lions, who picked up a dramatic, 77-73 overtime victory tonight over George Mason. Penn State seemed on the verge of a home loss, but Talor Battle hit a buzzer-beating 3-point shot to send the game into overtime. Battle then hit consecutive 3-pointers to start overtime and give Penn State a six-point lead it would not lose. Battle, Penn State's leading scorer in the regular season, finished with a game-high 24 points. The Penn State-URI game will be a rematch of November's game in Philadelphia, won by the Rams, 77-72, behind Jimmy Baron's 20 points. |
