Weyinmi Efejuku has become the first member of the PC Friars in two years to win Big East Player of the Week honors. Efejuku, coming off a career-best 31-point performance in PC's Feb. 21 loss to Notre Dame, averaged 22 points in the Friars' victories Tuesday night over No. 1 Pittsburgh and Sunday at Rutgers. He also shot 88.9 percent (24 for 27) from the foul line in those two games.
Efejuku, the Friars' leading scorer this season with 14.9 points per game, had a team-high 16 points againast Pittsburgh and a game-high 28 against Rutgers.
He is the first Friars player since Herbert Hill almost exactly two years ago to win the conference Player of the Week award; it's the first time that Efejuku has won it and the 39th time in conference history that a PC player has won it.
