P-Bruins skate to 2-1 victory over Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. - Wacey Rabbit scored the game-winning goal in the second period as the Providence Bruins defeated the Rochester Americans, 2-1, last night at the Blue Cross Arena. The other P-Bruins' goal came from Johnny Boychuk. The first place P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday versus the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m.

The Americans took a 1-0 advantage at the 16:41 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Michal Repik tallied his 18th goal of the season, with Jason Garrison and Mathieu Roy recording the assists. Rochester took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 5:04 mark of the second period. Martin St. Pierre sent the puck to the right point where Boychuk blasted it into the net fro his 17th goal of the season. Providence took its first lead of the game at the 8:03 mark.

Rochester tried clearing their zone, but the puck was held in at the left point by Matt Stephenson. After skating a few steps closer to the goal he shot the puck towards the net and it was tipped in by Rabbit for his 12th goal of the season. The P-Bruins took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

After a scoreless third period, the P-Bruins went on to the 2-1 victory.
Tuukka Rask stopped 26 of 27 shots for the P-Bruins, while Mike Brodeur made 26 saves for the Americans. The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
