BOSTON (AP) -- Boston Celtics rookie guard J.R. Giddens is headed back to the NBA Development League.

The Celtics assigned their first-round draft pick to the Utah Flash for the third time this season on Friday. In six games with Boston, he scored four points in eight minutes. With the Flash, he's averaging 17.6 points, 5.7 assists and 1.27 steals in 15 games.

Boston took him with the 30th pick of the draft after a strong senior season at New Mexico.
