BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics lobbied for sharp-shooting guard Eddie House to be put in the Foot Locker 3-point Shootout on Feb. 14 in Phoenix during the All-Star weekend festivities, but he was not invited.

Neither was Ray Allen, one of the most accurate 3-point shooters in NBA history who won the 3-point contest in 2001.

Allen said that if was invited to participate in the 3-point shootout, he probably wouldn't go because he would rather have House, who lives in the Phoenix area, represent the Celtics in the contest than himself.

He did say that he would compete in the All-Star game if he is selected as an injury replacement for Orlando's Jameer Nelson.

House, who has never been in the 3-point shootout, said that he was hoping to be invited this year and if he was invited then he was going to try to win it.

Two-time defending champion Jason Kapono, of Toronto, along with Atlanta's Mike Bibby, Miami's Daequan Cook, Indiana's Danny Granger, Orlando's Rashard Lewis, and San Antonio's Roger Mason have been named as the participants

House and Allen have a better 3-point shooting percentage this season (.410) than Granger (.401) and Bibby (.409), and have the same percentage as Cook (.410).
