-- Kevin Garnett returned to Boston today and is scheduled to see Dr. Brian McKeon tomorrow at New England Baptist Hospital to get an MRI on his knee, according to the Boston Globe.

Garnett injured his right knee late in the first half of Boston's 90-85 loss to Utah. He could miss anywhere between a week to four weeks, according to an ESPN report.

Instead of his post-game press conference, Garnett issued the following statement following last night's loss: "As you know, I suffered an injury, a strain to my right knee, during the game and I really don't have any comment about it. I will have the knee re-examined (today) and we should have more information at that time. Obviously, I would much rather be playing instead of providing this statement."

Boston coach Doc Rivers told reporters after the game that Garnett, who limped off the floor with 68 seconds left in the first half and was initially diagnosed with a right knee strain, wanted to go back into the game.

But he kept him out as a precautionary measure.

"He wanted to run but we have a long season and I'm not taking a risk by putting him on the floor," Rivers said. "We would have loved to have him, obviously, it probably would have made a difference. Unless he's close to 100 percent, I'd rather have him healthy for the playoffs. That's how I look at it."

His teammates feel the same way.

"Hopefully Kevin will get healthy as soon as possible," Pierce told reporters after the game. "We've been injured a lot this season but the most important thing is to just get healthy going into the playoffs. You know, you want him to take his time and not try to kill himself in the regular season. If we don't have home-court advantage, so be it, we have to find a way to get it done."

Garnett's knee has been bothering him for a while.

"It's been bothering him for a couple of weeks," president Danny Ainge told TNT sideline reporter Cheryl Miller at halftime of last night's game.

The Celtics will provide more information about the severity of the injury after Garnett's MRI. Garnett is not expected to rejoin the Celtics during their season-long six-game road trip. Boston still has three games remaining on its road trip.
