| Celtics-Wolves in-game update: Minnesota wins third quarter but Celtics still up big »
BOSTON -- Minnesota hung tough with Boston for the first quarter, which finished with Boston up, 29-24, but the Celtics' second-unit completely outplayed Minnesota's second-unit. The Celtics opened up the second quarter with a 19-7 run, and by the time the starters returned to the game, Boston's bench had given the Celtics a 48-31 cushion. That was more than enough padding for Boston's starters to control the last half of the second quarter, as Boston leads, 62-44, at halftime. Tony Allen led the bench players with 12 points and seems to be back to full strength after missing 11 straight games with an ankle sprain. Paul Pierce leads the Celtics with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Ray Allen has 14 points. Al Jefferson leads all scorers with 16 points and 6 rebounds. The Celtics are knocking down 52.4 percent of their shots for the game (22-0f-42) and limiting Minnesota to 39.5 percent shooting (15-of-38). The Celtics outscored the Wolves, 33-20 in the second quarter. |
