BOSTON -- With Tony Allen and Kevin Garnett now healthy, Boston rookie J.R. Giddens will be shipped back to the Utah Flash of the D-League this afternoon. Giddens, who averaged 16.3 points and 8.8 rebounds at New Mexico as a senior, was the 30th overall pick in last year's NBA Draft. He has only been active for one game this season for Boston. He was used sparingly during the preseason and did not suit up in Boston's first 10 games. Then he, along with fellow rookie Bill Walker, were optioned to the Utah Flash on Nov. 15. In 13 games with the Flash, he averaged 17.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.46 steals, and a team-high 1.54 blocks before going back to Boston.
