The 1996 Providence Capitals AAA hockey team will play its first game on Saturday in the 50th Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in Quebec City, Canada.
The Caps, all of whom were born in 1996, are one of the top teams in New England in their age group. They are 42-3-1 overall this season with a 23-1 record in the Eastern Hockey Federation.
The Caps first game is against the Whitby, Ont., Wildcats, at 5:20 p.m. on Saturday at the Pepsi Colisee, the former home of the NHL Quebec Nordiques.
About 2,300 young hockey players from 16 countries will play in the tournament, which is billed as the "World Championships of Pee-Wee Hockey.'' To get a feel for how big a deal this is in Quebec, go here.

Providence); Cody Todesco, (Franklin, Mass.); Liam Watkinson, (Scituate); Ryan Blais, (Woonsocket); Zachary Giuttari, (Warwick); Bryan Nelson, (Upton, Mass.); Dominic Rovero, (Webster, Mass.); Ryan Colena, (Franklin, Mass.); and Alex Handanyan, (Scituate.), Rob Blais is the head coach, assisted by Jim Handanyan and goalie coach Lorne Colena.

Many stars from the National Hockey League have played in this tournament, including Brad Park, Guy Lafleur, Marcel Dionne, Gilbert Perrault, Mark Howe, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Eric Lindros.
