Hendricken knocks Mount from ranks of unbeaten

A second-period goal by Noel Acciari lifted Hendricken to a 3-2 win over defending state champion Mount St. Charles at Adelard Arena in Woonsocket.

Trevor Plante opened the scoring for Mount with a power-play goal at 1:53 of the first period.

Hendricken tied it at 11:09 on a goal by Nick Mattiello. Then a shorthanded goal by Charlie Anderson with just 12 seconds left in the first period gave the Hawks the lead.

Shane Dunphy tied it for Mount at 8 minutes of the second period.

Just under two minutes later, Acciardi won it for Hendricken.

Shane Benjamin made 29 saves for Hendricken. Jason San Antonio made 10 saves for
Mount before being replaced by Zach Leduc, who stopped all 7 shots he faced.


Hendricken's record is 11-1; Mount's is 8-1.

The teams meet again on Feb. 20 at Thayer Arena in Warwick.
