Anna Grzebien and Patrick Sheehan are in good position after two rounds of their golf qualifying schools, but Rodney Butcher and Michael Sims are not. Grzebien, a former Duke All-American from Point Judith, had a 70 today in the LPGA schoos finals at LPGA international in Daytona Beach, Fla. Grzebien stands at 3-under 141, in a tie for 11th. The leaders are Michelle Wie, who had a 65 today for 134 total and Shiho Oyama, who has had 64-70. In the PGA Tour finals in California, Sheehan had a 68 for 137 total, 7-under. That leaves him in a tie for 23rd. The Potowomut product finished 128th on the PGA money list this year, thus has a card for next year, but he can improve his position, and his ability to get into tournaments, with a high finish in the Q School. Shehean's old friend from Potowomut, Rodney Butcher, had a bad day. After an opening 69, he had an eight and a seven on the way to a 78 for 147 total. He is tied for 151st. Sims, a URI grad, had a 69 after an opening 76 for 14 and a tie for 139th. |
