Action Auto Parts of Providence captured the Senior Softball-USA Over-50 Easton Winter National Championship, last weekend in Fort Myers, Fla. The Rhode Island club posted a 7-1 record en route to the 50+ AAA Division title of the double-elimination tourney, which was held Nov. 14-16 and featured a field of 15 teams from up and down the East Coast. Five players were named to the all-tournament team, including Bob Daley, owner of Action Auto Parts, who batted .778; Tom Mooney, 58, of Johnston, who pitched all eight games without relief; Frank Catamero, who batted .833 and played error-less ball in left center field; Providence firefighter and right center fielder Jim Rock, who batted .810 and Worcester (Mass.) police officer Bill Lee, who drove in 25 RBI and belted seven home runs, hitting .750.
