Sen. John McCain came to the battleground state of New Hampshire on Sunday as one of the biggest moments of his life -- his Monday Night Football interview with Chris Berman -- approaches, and he brought his loyal supporter former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling with him. McCain is facing a gargantuan spending machine in the campaign of Democratic Sen. Barack Obama, and that prompted Schilling to make an unflattering comparison between Obama and another high-spender: Yankee owner George Steinbrenner. Here's what Schilling told The Boston Herald: "The size of the payroll has nothing to do with the heart and talent of the team. They'd have you believe that we're down 3-0, but let me tell you I have a little bit of experience with that and it doesn't mean anything." If you want to know much more about why Schilling will be voting for McCain on Tuesday, read this post on his 38Pitches blog, which despite its unsurprising conclusion is much longer than any newspaper endorsement that I have seen so far. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
